Privacy Policy

This page describes what Stoicism, Explained Simply actually does today. It is a static website: there is no user account system, no database, and no advertising currently running on the site.

Information we don't collect

This site does not run any advertising, and browsing it does not create an account: no personal profile is built from your visit beyond the aggregate analytics described below.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are read and roughly how visitors arrive at the site. Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser and may collect information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you visit, according to Google's privacy policy. We don't use this data to identify you individually. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking sitewide using Google's browser opt-out add-on or by blocking analytics scripts with a browser extension or content blocker.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which, like effectively any hosting provider, may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and requested page) for security and reliability purposes. This is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The contact form

The contact form sends the name, email address, and message you submit to Web3Forms, a third-party form processing service, which relays it to us by email. We don't otherwise store or process that information ourselves. Web3Forms' own handling of that data is governed by their privacy policy, available at web3forms.com.

Browser storage

This site itself stores one small piece of information in your browser's local storage: your light/dark theme preference. This stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, is not used for tracking, and sets no cookies. Separately, Google Analytics sets its own cookies as described under Analytics above.

Future changes

If advertising or affiliate links are added to this site in the future, this policy will be updated to describe them accurately before they go live.
